Imersiv D-1 HDR-A Digital Analogue Converter Silver

DAC
Item number:11002513

The Imersiv D-1 DAC represents the most significant breakthrough in digital audio conversion since the technology's inception. Built on revolutionary HDR-A (High Dynamic Range Audio) multi-path architecture, the D-1 delivers performance so advanced that it exceeds the measurement capabilities of today's leading test equipment. With an extraordinary 28-bit dynamic range of 168dB and self-noise measuring just 40 nanovolts—100 times quieter than the best conventional DACs—the D-1 sets a new standard for audio purity and spatial realism.

Drawing on 35 years of innovation from Millennia Media, a company recognized with induction into the NAMM Technology Hall of Fame, the D-1 embodies aerospace-grade engineering and manufacturing excellence. Trusted by over forty Grammy-winning and platinum recording engineers at world-class facilities from Skywalker Ranch to Hollywood scoring stages, the D-1 has been called "a revelation" and "astonishing" by industry professionals. This is the DAC that allows you to hear your music library as if for the first time, revealing spatial information and timbral details that single-path converters simply cannot reproduce.

Features

  • Revolutionary HDR-A multi-path architecture delivering true 28-bit (168dB) dynamic range and linearity
  • Unprecedented self-noise of just 40 nanovolts—25dB below the measurement capability of APx555B test equipment
  • Massive +22dBu (10 volts) of ISO-free headroom with zero inter-sample overs
  • Extraordinarily pure low-level audio reproduction that preserves spatial cues and atmospheric depth
  • Multiple DAC cores that engage at different signal levels for optimal performance across the entire dynamic range
  • Support for PCM formats from 32kHz to 384kHz up to 32-bit, plus DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256
  • Comprehensive digital inputs including USB, AES/EBU, three SPDIF, Toslink, and optional Dante networking
  • Precision volume control with 0.1dB or 1.0dB steps across a 154dB range
  • Six selectable digital filter variations for optimized sound character
  • Professional-grade balanced XLR outputs with 1.8 ohm impedance and dedicated headphone amplifier

The D-1's HDR-A technology works similarly to HDR photography, where multiple exposures are intelligently combined to capture extraordinary dynamic range. In the D-1, multiple audio signal paths—each optimized for different level ranges—are seamlessly summed to create a composite signal with unprecedented clarity. Path 1 handles signals from 0dB to 90dB, while Path 2 extends from 80dB to 180dB, combining for a complete 180dB range from the quietest whisper to the most powerful crescendo.

This multi-path approach solves the fundamental limitation of single-path converters: the trade-off between headroom and noise floor. Traditional DACs must compromise, but the D-1's architecture allows unlimited headroom expansion without degrading the noise floor. The result is audio reproduction where the space between notes, the subtle decay of piano chords, and the initial transients of struck instruments remain pure and natural—preserving the spatial and timbral information that gives music its sense of life and presence. Recording engineers consistently report that clients mistake the D-1's stereo output for immersive 3D mixes, testament to its ability to reveal spatial depth that conventional converters mask with distortion and noise.
